Agartala, 6th August 2026: A crucial meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) core committee was held at the party’s central office in New Delhi on Thursday as the party stepped up preparations for the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) Village Committee elections in Tripura.
The meeting, attended by several senior central and state leaders, focused on strengthening the party’s organisational machinery, election preparedness and political strategy in tribal-dominated areas of the state.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, BJP Tripura Pradesh President Abhishek Deb Roy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, former MP Rebati Tripura and former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik were among those present, along with other senior BJP leaders.
According to party sources, the lengthy discussions covered booth-level organisational strengthening, the proposed election campaign roadmap, greater public outreach in tribal areas and ensuring the active participation of party workers. The prevailing political situation and possible electoral equations were also reportedly reviewed.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s alliance strategy has emerged as a major point of political speculation following the meeting. There is considerable interest over whether the BJP will contest the ADC Village Committee elections in alliance with its partners, Tipra Motha and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), as it did during the Assembly elections, or adopt a different approach.
The party, however, did not make any official announcement on the alliance issue after the meeting.
BJP leader and Minister Tinku Roy, in a social media post, said the meeting witnessed “detailed and productive discussions” on issues aimed at making the party’s organisational activities more organised, robust and dynamic. He said future action plans, expansion of public welfare initiatives and more effective communication of the government’s development activities to the people were also discussed.
Roy described such meetings as significant and inspiring for strengthening the party’s ideology and organisational base and reaffirming its commitment to working for the welfare of the people.
The ADC Village Committee elections are being viewed as politically significant, particularly for their potential impact on tribal politics and future electoral equations in Tripura. With the BJP yet to clarify its alliance formula, attention is now focused on the party’s next organisational decisions and any formal announcement regarding its electoral strategy.
