Agartala, 7th August 2026: Tripura is set to celebrate the fifth edition of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17, with a series of patriotic events, cultural programmes and mass participation initiatives planned across the state to commemorate the occasion.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Information and Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Kiran Gitte said the campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, has grown into a nationwide movement that encourages citizens to proudly hoist the National Flag and reaffirm their commitment to the nation.
He said this year’s edition will be organised under the theme “Commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram,” celebrating the historic patriotic song and its significant contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
As part of the campaign, the Tricolour will be hoisted at homes, government and private offices, educational institutions, commercial establishments and public places throughout the state. Memorials dedicated to freedom fighters and national icons will also be decorated with the National Flag as a tribute to their sacrifices.
The state-level inaugural programme will be held on August 11 at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala, where Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha will flag off a grand Tiranga Rally. Similar rallies and commemorative programmes will be organised simultaneously across all districts under the leadership of ministers assigned by the state government.
To ensure widespread public participation, the government has planned a variety of activities, including Tiranga Rallies, Tiranga Concerts, bike and cycle rallies, cultural performances, awareness campaigns and community outreach programmes extending from district headquarters to blocks, panchayats and villages. A special Tiranga Concert along with a patriotic exhibition will also be organised at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on August 11.
Appealing to citizens to actively participate, Gitte said National Flags will be distributed among the public to maximise involvement in the campaign. He also highlighted that Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Tripura are producing National Flags in three different sizes, creating livelihood opportunities while supporting the campaign.
Information and Cultural Affairs Department Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee said schools, colleges, youth organisations, NGOs, voluntary organisations and various civil society groups will actively participate in the celebrations. He expressed confidence that the campaign would further strengthen the spirit of patriotism, national unity and collective pride among the people of Tripura.
