IG L&O makes surprise visit to Bishalgarh bypass, reason remains unclear

Date:

Agartala, 8th August 2026:    In a sudden development, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Monchak Ippar visited the Bishalgarh bypass areas on Saturday, accompanied by senior police officials, triggering speculation over the purpose of the inspection.

IG Ippar first reached the Bishalgarh North Rautkhala Bypass along with Sepahijala District Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, Additional Superintendent of Police D. Khudiyar Basu and the Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station.

After inspecting the area, the IG proceeded to two bypass locations in Murabari. The visit was reportedly conducted without prior public notice, and the sudden movement of the senior police officer drew attention among local residents and others in the area.

However, the exact reason behind the IG’s visit remained unclear. Police officials accompanying him did not immediately disclose whether the inspection was linked to any specific incident, security concern, law-and-order assessment or ongoing investigation.

The visit assumes significance as bypass routes in and around Bishalgarh are important for vehicular movement and have previously attracted police attention in connection with traffic management and security-related issues.

The presence of the district’s senior police officials alongside the IG has further fuelled curiosity about the purpose of the inspection. While the officials visited multiple locations, no official statement explaining the reason for the sudden tour was available till the filing of this report.
