Agartala, 11th August 2026: Government of Tripura has received national recognition for its continued efforts to promote transparent, efficient and technology-driven public procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
Tripura was conferred the ‘GeM Sustained Adoption’ award at a special programme organised in New Delhi on Monday to mark the 10th anniversary of GeM. The award recognises the state’s consistent efforts to expand the use of the digital procurement platform across government departments.
The programme was attended by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, Commerce Department Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology S. Krishnan, and GeM CEO Maher Kumar.
Representing the Tripura government, Additional Secretary of the Finance Department Dr Akinchan Sarkar attended the event and received the award from Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
Tripura earned the recognition for the steady rise in procurement carried out through the GeM platform and the growing participation of government buyers across different departments. The increased adoption has enabled procuring agencies to access the platform’s digital tools while promoting greater transparency and efficiency in government purchases.
The award highlights Tripura’s efforts to modernise its public procurement system through technology and strengthen accountability in government transactions. The growing use of GeM by departments and other procuring entities is also expected to improve competitiveness and ensure better value for public funds.
