Agartala, 12th August 2026: Tripura Cabinet on Wednesday approved the recruitment of 552 personnel to various vacant posts across different departments of the state government. The decisions were announced by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at a press conference held at the Secretariat.
According to the minister, 310 vacant posts in the Tripura Engineering Service will be filled through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). The recruitment will be for Junior Engineer, Grade-V (A) and Grade-V (B) posts.
Of the Grade-V (A) posts, 169 are in Civil Engineering, eight in Mechanical Engineering and 18 in Electrical Engineering. Candidates applying for these posts must possess a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline. For Grade-V (B), there are 104 posts in Civil Engineering, five in Mechanical Engineering and six in Electrical Engineering. Candidates for these posts must have a diploma in the respective discipline.
Another 185 Junior Pump Operator, Group-C posts under the Water Resources Department will be filled through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). Candidates must have passed Madhyamik and ITI.
The Cabinet also approved direct recruitment to 57 faculty posts at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. The posts include 17 Professors and 20 each of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, with the recruitment process to be conducted through TPSC.
The government has also decided that Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) will no longer be mandatory for recruitment to state government jobs. Instead, applicants must provide proof of having studied continuously for five years at any school in Tripura between Classes I and XII.
Minister Chowdhury said the decision was taken following directions of the Tripura High Court to reconsider the existing PRTC requirement after a petition was filed by a Delhi-based resident.
The Cabinet further approved the allotment of 2.5 gonda of land in Agartala to Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asmita Dey for construction of a residential house. The state government will also bear the allotment premium of Rs 33,50,239.
In addition, new fire stations will be established at Boxanagar, Manubankul, Garjee and Ganganagar. The Cabinet also approved an increase in the financial assistance provided through various grants to the families of ex-servicemen in the state.
