Agartala, 17th August 2026 : The DYFI and TYF on Monday protested the state government’s decision to withdraw the mandatory requirement of a Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) for recruitment to state government jobs.
Addressing a press conference at Chhatra-Juba Bhavan in Melarmath, DYFI State President Palash Bhowmik said candidates will now be required to furnish proof of having studied for five years in any school in Tripura. He alleged that the decision could benefit certain individuals and urged the government to reconsider it in the interest of unemployed youths of the state.
Bhowmik also raised concerns over the shortage of doctors in government hospitals. He said offer letters for 42 qualified doctors are still pending despite the candidates having fulfilled the necessary administrative requirements. He demanded that the Health Department immediately issue the offer letters, alleging that bureaucratic delays and lack of political will were aggravating the healthcare crisis.
He also criticised the government over incidents reported during Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Alleging disruption of scheduled programmes, he referred to an incident in Sonamura where BJP workers allegedly obstructed a national flag-hoisting ceremony and the reported assault of a TSR jawan at GB Bazar.
Bhowmik demanded appropriate action against those responsible for the incidents and called for greater accountability from the government.
