Agartala, 19th August 2026 : Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul celebrated his birthday in a unique way by joining swimmers, coaches and organisers during the state’s inaugural long-distance swimming competition.
Paul said the occasion became especially memorable when participants gathered around him to cut a birthday cake and extend their warm wishes and affection. He said the sincerity and goodwill shown by the swimmers would remain “etched in my memory forever.”
The competition was organised by Agiye Chalo Sangha with training support from the Tripura Amateur Swimming and Sports Association. Sharing his experience, Paul said he spent a wonderful time with the participants and appreciated the initiative for promoting swimming talent in the state.
“Swimming is more than just a sport; it is a unique blend of physical fitness, mental resilience, self-confidence and discipline,” Paul said, adding that such initiatives can play an important role in nurturing young swimmers and advancing Tripura’s sporting sector.
The Deputy Speaker congratulated all participants, organisers, coaches and everyone associated with the competition. He expressed hope that Tripura’s sporting talents would achieve greater success at national and international levels in the future.
Paul also extended his best wishes to all competitors and called for continued efforts to create more opportunities for young athletes in the state.
