Youth empowerment vital for Atmanirbhar Tripura: Speakers

Agartala, 27th August 2026 :  Empowering young people with education, practical skills, values and opportunities is essential for building a self-reliant and economically stronger Tripura, speakers said at a one-day workshop held at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College in Agartala on Thursday.

The workshop, titled “Empowering Youth for an Atmanirbhar Tripura,” was organised by the Samarth Bharat Prakostha of Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), Tripura, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MBB College. The MBB College unit of ABRSM also supported the initiative.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati pujan, followed by a Saraswati Bandana presented by Dr Anindita Roy Bhattacharjee. Dr Madhusudhan Debbarma, Assistant Professor at MBB College and Coordinator-Cum-Pramukh of Samarth Bharat Prakostha, ABRSM, Tripura, delivered the welcome address.

Addressing the inaugural session, ABRSM Tripura General Secretary Debasish Roy Choudhury, Assistant Professor at NSM Udaipur, and MBB College Principal Dr Arjun Gope stressed the importance of preparing the younger generation to meet emerging challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.

The technical session began with an address by the IQAC Coordinator of MBB College. The key interaction was led by Dr Rajib Malakar, Assistant Professor, Senior Grade and Course Director (Rural Development) at SIPARD, Agartala.

Dr Malakar elaborated on rural development, youth empowerment and self-reliance, urging young people to develop practical skills, explore emerging opportunities and take an active role in the state’s development.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 88 students and a large number of teachers, creating a platform for interaction and knowledge-sharing. Speakers concluded that skilled, confident and socially responsible youth would play a decisive role in shaping an Atmanirbhar Tripura and driving its socio-economic progress.
