Agartala, 3rd September 2026 : Tripura Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia has said that the state is taking steps towards establishing the prestigious Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU) within the premises of the Tripura State Cooperative Union (TSCU).
The minister held a meeting in New Delhi with Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, where the proposed establishment of the university in Tripura was discussed.
Describing the meeting as “highly productive” and encouraging, Noatia said the initiative would mark a significant step forward for cooperative education in the state.
According to the minister, discussions focused on setting up TSU at the TSCU premises, with the state hopeful of seeing positive developments from the next financial year.
The proposed initiative is expected to create greater opportunities for students and youth in Tripura to pursue education and training related to the cooperative sector. It is also aimed at strengthening the cooperative movement and developing skilled human resources to support cooperative institutions across the state.
“Talks were highly encouraging, and we are optimistic about implementing positive developments starting from the next financial year,” Noatia said.
The minister expressed confidence that the establishment of TSU in Tripura would empower the state’s youth while giving further impetus to the cooperative sector.
