Agartala, 5th September 2026 :    Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said the BJP, Tipra Motha and IPFT, the three NDA partners in the state, have decided to jointly contest the upcoming Village Committee elections, while issues related to the tripartite accord will be addressed in a time-bound manner after the polls.

Speaking to reporters at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport after returning from New Delhi, Dr Saha referred to Friday’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, attended by Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma and BJP North-East Coordinator Sambit Patra.

The Chief Minister said the nearly 90-minute meeting focused on the tripartite accord and its implementation. “Since elections are underway, it has been decided that all pending issues will be sorted out next month after the elections and implementation will proceed accordingly,” he said.

Dr Saha added that teams have already been formed by the concerned parties to coordinate the process.

On the Village Committee elections, he said a final decision on seat-sharing and candidates would be worked out shortly. He also confirmed discussions with IPFT leaders, including Minister Sukla Charan Noatia.

Describing his interaction with Pradyot Kishore as cordial, Dr Saha said all decisions would be taken keeping the interests of every community in mind. “We are all satisfied. A cordial atmosphere has emerged,” he said.

The Chief Minister further assured that the implementation of the tripartite accord would be time-bound and said the alliance would work together to bridge past gaps and move forward.

On the law-and-order situation in certain areas, Dr Saha asserted that the administration was fully capable of taking necessary action in accordance with the law.
