Amtali Kali Temple theft case: Prime suspect arrested, police seek further remand

Agartala, 5th September 2026 :   Amtali Police have arrested a suspected key accused in the recent theft case at the Amtali Kali Temple, with Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rana Chatterjee confirming the development.

According to the police, a theft case was registered recently following a complaint from a local resident. During the investigation, several hardcore property offenders were arrested and interrogated. Based on information obtained during questioning, police conducted a series of raids and intelligence-based operations, leading to the arrest of another suspected property offender yesterday.

OC Rana Chatterjee said the accused has allegedly been involved in theft-related activities for a long period and is linked to several cases within the Amtali police station area as well as neighbouring jurisdictions. Police have also positively identified his alleged connection with the recent theft at the Amtali Kali Temple.

The accused was produced before the court on Saturday, where police are expected to seek further remand for interrogation. The OC said several names have emerged during questioning and police are working to apprehend the other suspected associates. Further investigation is underway to uncover the remaining details of the theft case.
