Agartala, 6th September 2026 : Tragedy struck Udaipur on Sunday when a Class X student drowned while taking a bath in Jagannath Dighi. The deceased has been identified as Debajit Dey.
According to reports, Debajit had gone to Jagannath Dighi with five of his classmates. At around 3 pm, the students entered the pond to take a bath when Debajit suddenly slipped into deep water and drowned.On receiving the information, officials from the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Administration and personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
After a prolonged search, rescuers finally recovered Debajit’s body from the pond. He was immediately taken to Gomati District Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over Udaipur town. The drowning of the young student has also caused widespread shock and concern among local residents.
