Agartala, 11th September 2026 : A man was killed on the spot after being hit by a motorcycle and falling under a lorry in Agartala’s Nandannagar area on Friday afternoon.
The deceased, Dipankar Debnath, a native of West Bengal, had been staying at his in-laws’ residence in Nandannagar for a long time. According to reports, a motorcycle hit Dipankar, throwing him under a passing lorry, which subsequently ran over him.
Following the incident, locals detained the lorry bearing registration TR-01-X-1845, tied its driver to a pole and allegedly assaulted him. Police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the body, which was sent to the GB Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police detained the lorry driver and seized the vehicle but could not trace the motorcycle involved in the accident. Family members who arrived at the scene broke down in grief.
