Agartala, 12th September 2026 : BJP held a key meeting at its state headquarters, Kushabhau Bhavan, today to review preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Voting for the remaining seats will be held on September 28. Out of the total 4,597 Village Committee seats, 1,630 have already been decided without a contest. Tipra Motha has won 1,548 seats, while the BJP has secured 82 seats uncontested.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha attended the meeting along with State BJP president Abhishek Barman, Ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Sushanta Chowdhury, Rajib Bhattacharya and other senior leaders.
The meeting discussed the election strategy, booth-level preparations and coordination among the BJP, Tipra Motha Party and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Saha said the three parties had formed an alliance for the Village Committee elections and were working together on the campaign strategy. He said joint campaign programmes would also be organised across the areas going to polls.
Saha said the alliance partners had coordinated during the nomination process. However, candidates from alliance parties are contesting against each other in some constituencies.Asked whether such contests could affect the alliance, Saha said there was “no problem” and that the alliance partners would continue to fight the election.
The BJP is now focusing on the seats where direct contests will take place and is preparing its campaign and booth-level mobilisation ahead of the September 28 polling.
