Thief Caught Hiding on GB Hospital Ceiling After Mobile Theft

Date:

Agartala, 13th September 2026 :  Hundreds of patients visit GB Pant Hospital in Agartala every day seeking medical treatment, but many allegedly face another problem inside the hospital premises—falling victim to thieves, snatchers and pickpockets.

Concerns have been raised over the alleged lack of adequate security and surveillance at the hospital, with patients and their relatives reportedly becoming targets of theft.

Recently, a mobile phone belonging to a woman undergoing treatment in the Medicine Block was allegedly stolen while it was kept for charging. After learning about the incident, the patient’s son reportedly caught the suspected thief and assaulted him. The accused sustained injuries and was subsequently admitted to the Trauma Centre, where he received treatment under the supervision of security personnel.

A complaint was also lodged against the accused at the GB Police Outpost.

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspected thief was allegedly found hiding on the hospital’s ceiling on Sunday morning. A security guard noticed him and immediately alerted others. The security personnel brought him down from the ceiling and handed him over to the police, a security guard said.

The incident has once again raised questions over security arrangements at GB Hospital. Patients and their families have demanded stronger surveillance and stricter security measures to prevent thefts and other criminal activities on the hospital premises.

With a large number of people visiting the hospital every day, authorities are being urged to strengthen monitoring to ensure the safety of patients and their attendants.
