Agartala, 14th September 2026 : Police have detained Dhanyamohan Jamatia, who was allegedly involved in a machete attack on widowed housewife I.D. Sori Molsom on the night of July 27. The accused was detained late Sunday night, 47 days after the incident, from the deep forests of the Baganbari-Tuirupa area under Killa Police Station.
According to police sources, Jamatia had been absconding since the incident and was allegedly hiding in the forested area to evade arrest. Acting on a tip-off, police teams from Bishramganj and Killa police stations conducted a joint operation and detained him from Tuirupa before bringing him to Bishramganj Police Station.
Bishramganj Police Station OC Ajit Debbarma said Jamatia is accused of attacking Sori Molsom with a machete on July 27. He is scheduled to be produced before the Bishalgarh Court today.
Police said further details about the circumstances surrounding the attack are expected to emerge during the court proceedings.
