Electricity Office Vandalised in Pecharthal Over Power Supply Issues

Date:

Agartala, 15th September 2026 :  Tension gripped the Pecharthal-Shantipur area following allegations of vandalism at the sing electricity office over prolonged power supply problems.

Residents alleged that despite paying their electricity bills regularly and on time, they have been facing irregular power supply and frequent outages for a long period, causing severe inconvenience to households and businesses.

According to reports, the situation escalated on Monday night, with alleged vandalism at the Shantipur electricity office between around 11 pm and 2 am. Following the incident, local residents demanded that the electricity office remain closed until the longstanding power-related issues are addressed.

The residents have also alleged that no concerned official has so far visited the area to hold an effective discussion with them or take steps to resolve the problem.

Amid growing dissatisfaction, residents have urged Minister Shantana Chakma to intervene immediately and ensure a permanent solution to the electricity crisis in the area.
