Agartala, 16th September 2026 : The Tripura State Election Commission has announced the schedule for finalising polling stations for the upcoming 2026 General Election to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state.
According to an official notification issued by State Election Commissioner Dr. P.K. Chakravarty, the draft list of polling stations will be published on September 17, 2026.
Citizens and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to submit claims, objections and suggestions regarding the draft list until September 21. The Election Commission has fixed September 23 for disposal of the claims and objections. The final list of polling stations is scheduled to be published on September 25, 2026.
The schedule has been issued under Rule 3 of the Tripura Municipalities (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1995. As per the notification, the District Municipal Election Officers, who are also the District Magistrates of the respective districts, will publish the polling station lists for the wards of the municipalities in accordance with Rule 7 of the Tripura Municipalities (Registration of Electors) Rules, 1995.
The notification has been communicated to the District Municipal Election Officers and concerned election authorities across North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura.
The State Election Commission has also requested the Director of the General Administration (Printing & Stationery) Department to publish the notification in an extraordinary issue of the Tripura Gazette.
The announcement marks an important preparatory step towards the conduct of the forthcoming Urban Local Body elections in Tripura.
