Rain disrupts commuting at Kailashahar, residents seek brick soling

Date:

Agartala, 16th September 2026 : Residents of North Kalipur under Ward No. 13 of Kailashahar Municipal Council on Wednesday submitted a deputation to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), seeking brick soling on vulnerable stretches of the Lakshichhara embankment.

The residents said earth filling was carried out last year to raise the embankment, but the road turns extremely muddy during the rainy season, making movement difficult. Elderly residents, ambulances and vehicles carrying essential services are particularly affected.

They urged the administration to complete the brick soling work before Durga Puja. The SDM assured the residents that necessary arrangements would be made to improve the embankment for smooth commuting before the festival.

Chandrashekhar Sinha, Jaydeep Dey and Sagar Das were among those present during the submission.
