Agartala, 21st September 2026 : Serious allegations have been raised by female aspirants during the ongoing counselling for admission to nursing courses at the GBP Hospital hall, with candidates questioning the preparation of the merit list and allocation of Unreserved (UR) seats.
One ANM-qualified candidate seeking admission to the GNM course alleged that her academic marks were considered inconsistently, causing her position in the merit list to drop significantly. She said she had 45 per cent marks in ANM and 65.6 per cent in Class XII.
According to the candidate, she initially found her name near the top of the list after completing the application and interview process. However, when the final list was published on September 15, she was placed at rank 170 after her Class XII marks were considered instead of her ANM marks. She claimed that other ANM-qualified candidates had their ANM marks taken into account.
The candidate said she submitted a complaint on September 16. She alleged that officials initially told her that the matter could not be addressed because a required document had not been submitted. However, she claimed that when her file was checked, a photocopy of her ANM certificate was found in it.
She further alleged that officials were now asking her to provide proof regarding the disputed document and had told her that admission would be possible only if she could establish her claim. She questioned how candidates with lower marks were being considered for seats while her case remained unresolved.
Another candidate raised questions over the allocation of UR seats to candidates belonging to reserved categories. She argued that UR seats should be available to candidates competing under the unreserved category.
The students also expressed dissatisfaction over the response they received during counselling, alleging that officials were advising them to consider private institutions instead of addressing their concerns regarding government-funded nursing education.
The candidates have sought clarity from the authorities on the merit-list preparation, treatment of ANM marks, and allocation of UR seats, demanding a transparent resolution to their grievances.
