Agartala, 23rd September 2026 : A college student, Amit Acharya of Indranagar, narrowly escaped serious injury after a snapped power line became entangled around his neck near the Old Motor Stand area of Agartala on Wednesday.
According to Acharya, he was travelling by scooter from the Kasharboard area when the live wire suddenly fell and caught around his neck, causing him to fall from the vehicle. He sustained injuries to his neck, hand and leg, while his scooter was reportedly damaged and caught fire after coming into contact with the electrical current.
People at the spot rushed to help and moved the scooter away from the wire. Personnel from the Fire Service and Electricity Department later arrived, extinguished the fire and disconnected the power line.
A person who witnessed the incident said it happened suddenly and that Acharya had no opportunity to anticipate the danger. Police personnel at the spot reportedly advised those involved to file a General Diary (GD) entry.
