Agartala, 25th September 2026 : A woman has alleged that a local youth entered her house by breaking open the door and robbed her of a gold chain, Rs 13,000 in cash and a smartphone after threatening her with a knife. The incident reportedly took place in the Matinagar area under Sonamura police station.
The complainant, identified as Monti Sarkar, alleged that she had gone to sleep after having dinner when local youth Liton Das allegedly broke open the door and entered her house. She claimed that the accused then held a knife to her throat and took away her gold chain, Rs 13,000 in cash and a smartphone before fleeing the spot.
Monti alleged that she was unable to raise an alarm at the time due to fear as the accused had allegedly threatened her with the knife. Later, hearing her cries, nearby residents rushed to the house.
According to the complainant, her husband has been working in Saudi Arabia for a long time and she currently lives in the Matinagar area with her elderly mother. She alleged that the accused was aware that her husband was away and took advantage of the situation to carry out the alleged robbery.
Following the incident, Monti Sarkar lodged a written complaint against Liton Das at Sonamura police station. She has sought a proper investigation into the incident and demanded legal action and appropriate punishment against the accused.
