Agartala, 25th September 2026 : The Government of Tripura’s ongoing efforts towards transforming the State’s healthcare system through digital technology were highlighted at Aarogya Manthan 2026, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 25 September 2026.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, graced the programme as Chief Guest. The programme was also graced by Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO, National Health Authority along with other dignitaries.
The programme was organised to commemorate eight years of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
As part of the programme, Gitte Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tripura, participated in a panel discussion on the digital transformation of healthcare and shared Tripura’s vision and experience in implementing the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS).
During the discussion, Gitte outlined Tripura’s vision of moving from fragmented, paper-based healthcare processes towards a connected, interoperable and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem, with IHMIS serving as the operational backbone and ABDM providing the interoperability framework.
He highlighted that the objective of IHMIS goes beyond computerising hospital registration. The initiative aims to connect citizens, doctors, nurses, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, laboratories and health programmes through a common digital ecosystem. The system is envisaged to support statewide electroni health records, efficient utilisation of healthcare resources, reduction in patient waiting time, improved emergency services, automated processes, real-time reporting, analytics and decision support, as well as better grievance redressal.
