Agartala, 26th September 2026 : A 21-year-old housewife and her 21-month-old son have gone missing from the Thakurchhara Narayan Pal Para area of Jolaibari in South Tripura, triggering concern among family members and local residents.
The missing woman has been identified as Arpita Dey (Muhuri), daughter-in-law of Sajal Muhuri. Her husband, Sourav Muhuri, is reportedly employed in Bengaluru, while Arpita had been staying with her in-laws.
According to the family, Arpita left home at around 4 pm on Friday, September 25, along with her young son. She reportedly told family members that she was going to Jolaibari market to have a mobile phone repaired. However, she did not return home by evening.
The family subsequently searched for her and the child at the houses of relatives and other possible locations but failed to trace them. On Saturday, Arpita’s father-in-law approached Baikhora Police Station and lodged a missing person report.
Family members have expressed suspicion that Arpita may have left with a young man identified as Prem Das of the Shantirbazar area, with whom they claim she had a close relationship. However, police have not confirmed the allegation, and the circumstances surrounding the disappearance remain under investigation.
Baikhora police said an investigation has been initiated based on the complaint. Police are examining available leads, including information related to Arpita’s mobile phone, in an effort to trace the missing woman and her child.
The disappearance of the mother and child has caused concern in the Jolaibari area, while police efforts to locate them are continuing.
