Agartala, 27th September 2026 : The Tripura Pradesh NSUI on Sunday evening organised a protest march in Agartala, raising concerns over the shortage of teachers in government schools and protesting the alleged police action against candidates who cleared the 2024 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
The NSUI alleged that the shortage of teachers in schools across the state has adversely affected academic activities, while the 2024 TET-qualified candidates have been continuing their agitation demanding recruitment of all eligible candidates.
According to the organisation, when the TET-qualified candidates recently staged a protest outside the Teachers Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) office, police allegedly used water cannons to disperse them. The protesters were also allegedly detained and forcibly taken into police vehicles.
Condemning the incident, the Pradesh NSUI organised the protest march on Sunday evening. The procession began in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan and passed through various roads of Agartala.
The march was led by the working president of the Pradesh NSUI, who later spoke to the media and elaborated on the organisation’s demands and the reasons behind the protest.
The NSUI demanded that the government address the teacher shortage in schools and take steps to resolve the recruitment concerns of the 2024 TET-qualified candidates.
