Agartala, 12th October 2026 : Demanding the immediate clearance of eight months of pending remuneration, Community Service Providers (CSPs) working under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) on Monday locked the Salema Block Office, staging a protest after an earlier assurance to release their dues by October 10 went unfulfilled.
The protest created tension in the area as the aggrieved workers expressed their resentment over the prolonged delay in payment despite continuing to discharge their responsibilities. According to the protesters, they had been assured that their outstanding bills would be cleared by October 10. However, as the deadline passed without payment, they decided to lock the block office to press for immediate action.
The CSPs said the non-payment of remuneration for eight consecutive months had pushed them into financial hardship. They alleged that meeting daily household expenses had become increasingly difficult in the absence of their earnings. Along with the immediate release of pending dues, they demanded a permanent solution to prevent such delays from recurring.
Following discussions with the protesting workers, the Block Development Officer (BDO) assured them that the outstanding bills would be cleared within the next two days.
After receiving the assurance, the CSPs withdrew their agitation and ended the office-locking protest.
However, the workers’ immediate relief remains contingent on the fulfilment of the BDO’s commitment. The next two days will be crucial in determining whether their long-pending remuneration is released as promised.
