Agartala, 27th October 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has issued a show-cause notice to Manish Deb, president of the party’s 14-Badharghat Mandal under the Sadar (Urban) district, over allegations related to land irregularities, illegal occupation and alleged mutation trading.

According to the notice issued by the BJP’s Tripura Pradesh Disciplinary Committee, reports concerning alleged land-related irregularities in the Badharghat Mandal area have recently circulated on various social media platforms. The notice also refers to the alleged sale of land belonging to Ramnibas Ashram in the Charipara area and the legal complications surrounding the matter.

It further states that a case involving Ramnibas Ashram versus Manish Deb has reportedly been filed in a local court.

The party has clarified in the notice that it does not support or encourage any illegal activities, extortion or forcible occupation of land.

Issued with the approval of the state BJP president, the notice directs Manish Deb to clarify his role and position regarding the allegations within seven days of receiving it. He has also been asked to submit a written explanation to the state party office stating why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him.

The notice warns that failure to respond within the stipulated period may invite action under the party’s disciplinary rules.

The notice was signed by Tapas Bhattacharya, Convener of the BJP Tripura Pradesh Disciplinary Committee.
