Agartala, 7th November 2026 : A devastating fire in the Pyare Babu-r Bagan area last night completely gutted the house of the late Debal Pal, destroying all household belongings and leaving his family in distress.
Fortunately, Debal Pal’s wife, who lived alone in the house, was staying at her daughter’s residence when the fire broke out, preventing any loss of life.
On Saturday, local MLA Dipak Majumdar visited the affected family and expressed solidarity with them. He provided ₹50,000 in personal financial assistance, while the government has already extended ₹10,000 through the SDM’s office. The Mayor also provided ₹50,000 to the affected family.
The MLA assured the family that necessary steps would be taken with government assistance to rebuild their house. He also sought cooperation from party leaders, local representatives and well-wishers to help the family recover from the disaster.
Speaking to the media, Dipak Majumdar described the incident as deeply tragic and said that the family had lost everything in the fire. He said he had discussed the matter with family members, local residents, the Mandal president, the corporator and other party leaders.
“Although such a huge loss cannot be fully compensated, it is our responsibility to stand beside the affected family during this difficult time. The government has already provided initial assistance through the SDM’s office, and I have also extended financial support personally,” he said.
Majumdar further assured that both the government and the party would extend all possible assistance towards rebuilding the destroyed house and restoring the family’s normal life. He added that he, in his capacity as MLA, along with party colleagues and other associates, would make every effort to support the family in overcoming the crisis.
