Rain brings relief from heat in Tripura

Agartala: April 21. Heavy showers along with thunderstorm brought some respite to people from the scorching heat in the state as the mercury dipped by a few notches today.

The ongoing heat waves across Northeast India, have hit Tripura badly this year due to a sudden surge of both minimum and maximum temperatures about 6 degrees above than normal temperatures.

Sources from the IMD department have said that in the Northeast region, the highest temperature is in Tripura followed by Guwahati in Assam, and informed that in the coming day this trend will continue.

In view of the severe heat wave condition, the Tripura government on Monday announced to close all schools in the state from April 18 to 23 in view of the severe heat wave condition.

Tripura which has recorded highest temperature in April 14 and 15 which was 39 degree Celsius was continued for a days. However IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain from 21st of April,

Parts of the state since yesterday received rains, bringing some respite from the persistent heatwave conditions. The maximum temperature settled at 36.3 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The IMD officials said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur in the state in coming days too.
