Agartala: May 09. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday appealed to the people of the country to visit Tripura for witnessing real example of ‘Unity and Diversity’.

Inaugurating Sri Sri Mata Mangal Chandibari Mela at Amarpur HS School Field in Gomati district on Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that for the next seven day, this mela will continue here in Amarpur.

“Earlier this fair used to take place during Poila Boisakh and later when people were facing trouble it was decided to arrange this fair on the 25th Boisakh of every year. Not only people of Amarpur participate in this fair but also people from other parts like Agartala, Khowai, Belonia, Santirbazar, Saboroom and etc come here for witnessing the fair”, said the Chief Minister.

Saying that Tripura is rich in heritage and culture, Chief Minister said, “After I came into politics and became Chief Minister, I got to know Tripura in a new way and I am trying to know more about my state. Tripura is rich in heritage and culture. We have 19 tribal communities in the state and they have their own tradition and culture. I have visited some of their places and witnessed how they welcome and give farewell to the New Year. The way they maintain the tradition is truly wonderful. I would say to all the people of India that if they want to see the real example of ‘Unity and Diversity’ then they must come to Tripura”.

CM Dr. Saha said that the main agenda of this fair is the brotherhood of tribal and non-tribal.

“This type of fair is being held all over Tripura which is very good. And our government is also helping financially to protect the state’s heritage, art, and culture”, CM Dr Saha added.
