Newly appointed Chairperson of TCPCR resigns citing ‘family burden’

Agartala: May 11. Jayanti Debbarma who was appointed as Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights by BJP government, has tendered her resignation letter from the post.

In a letter to Chief Secretay JK Sinha, Jayanti Debbarma who is daughter of former Late minister NC Debbarma ,said, ” With due respect I would like to inform you that, I have been appointed as Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child. But with deep regret I also like to inform you that, due to my family burden as I am widower and my children are still minor, I tender my resignation from the post of Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights”.

She further said, “Under the above facts & circumstances you are requested to accect my resignation from the post of Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights”.

Earlier on March 10,  BJP has announced the appointment of two tribal women of Tripura who fought the assembly election but lost to Tipra Motha, in posts that are equal in status to a minister of state on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in a meeting of Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda here during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed Tripura government, Jayanti Debbarma, daughter of late IPFT chief and former minister N C Debbarma, and BJP vice- president Patal Kanya Jamatia would be provided the status.
