Agartala, May 22, 2023: A daring broad daylight robbery took place at an area adjacent to SBC Nagar School under Belonia police station on Monday.It is reported that a group of thieves broke into the house of Krishna Majumdar, a labour by profession and resident of an area adjacent to SBC Nagar School had stolen Rs 10,000 in cash along with gold ornaments. The market value of which will be more than Rs 2 lakh.
Krishna Majumdar, the owner of the house, said that he left for work at around 8 AM and his wife went to Tripura Gramin Bank’s Bankar branch for the work of self-help group around 12:30 pm. The owner of the house came home around 2:30 AM and witnessed the incident.
After shouting, the locals came running and were shocked to witness the incident. The Belonia police station was informed. Police personnel arrived and started investigation after witnessing the incident.
Locals said that around noon, a white Maruti car and some youths were staying 15-20 feet away from this house. Since goats are often stolen in this area, locals are on the lookout for suspected goat thieves. And while the goats are busy fighting, the next time the incident comes to light, there is a sensation in the whole area.The local residents also said that the people who were in the car seemed to be outsiders, especially the people of Udaipur or Sonamura sub-divisions. Due to the lack of foresight of the local residents, the thief managed to flee.The police investigation has started. Now it is a matter of seeing how much they are able to catch the thieves and recover the stolen items.
