CITIIS announces a photography competition “CITIES of Tomorrow”

Agartala, August 01, 2022: The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) under the CITIIS program is organising a photography competition called “Cities of Tomorrow” with the purpose of depicting the impacts of sustainable and innovation-driven urban development in India through the lens of the citizen.

Speaking to reporters here at ASCL office on Monday afternoon, West Tripura districtt’s DM Debapriya Bardhan said “CITIIS (Cities Investment to Innovate, Integrate & Sustain) is a joint program of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the French Development Agency(AFD), the European Union (EU), and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). The programis assisting 12 cities, which were selected through a challenge process, develop and implement sustainable and innovation-driven urban infrastructure projects.”

“Agartala Smart City Limited was selected in the CITIIS Challenge for its Haora River Front Development Project. This project is categorised under the CITIIS focus area i.e. Public Open Space Category, which is also one of the themes for the Cities of Tomorrow competition”, he added.

Bardhan said “Entries are invited from Agartala city on the basis of the theme mentioned above. The entries will be judged by a panel comprising renowned photographers Raghul Rai, Ketaki Sheth, and Sounak Banerjee. The winner of the first prize will receive INR 50,000. The second and third prizes are INR 25,000 and INR 10,000, respectively. The winning entries will also be displayed at a public exhibition at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi in October 2022. A participant can send three photographs.”
