Agartala, June 24, 2023: A group of miscreants vandalized the Electrical Sub-Division office in Udaipur after an electricity connection was cut off on Friday night around 9:30 pm. The incident occurred following a power outage in some houses in the Bandoara area.

Despite the usual process of informing the TSECL’s office, the repair work could not be completed due to it being nighttime. The affected residents, however, refused to accept the situation and demanded that other houses in the area also experience a power cut. This led to a heated debate between the workers and local residents.

Allegedly, a group of youths from the Bandoara area, including Ranjit Saha, Rajesh Das, Raju Datta, Krishna Saha, and Uttam Saha, later ransacked the office and cut the telephone connection, as reported by the power department’s workers. In response to the incident, the police promptly arrived at the TSECL office in Udaipur and initiated an investigation. The attack has caused panic among the electricity workers.

Despite Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath recently assuring support to the workers and vowing to prevent any form of harassment, the attack occurred just 24 hours after the minister’s message. Calls for action against the assailants have been made, and there are additional demands from various quarters to restore normal electricity connections and ensure fair services.
