Agartala: July 02. The Unemployed Pharmacist of the state have demanded immediate recruitment of the Unemployed Pharmacist as they have claimed that around 500 posts are laying vacant.

Addressing a press conference, the Unemployed Pharmacist lauded the work of the Chief Minister who is also the health minister of the state.

“…..As a Minister of Health, he has taken many important decisions which are claimed by many to be breakthrough steps in health services. But nowadays it is seen that many health centers, primary health centers, and hospitals are facing a lack of pharmacists and many have retired. As a result, other health workers are doing the work of pharmacists. This is what we mean when other health workers like doctors, and nurses retire and are replaced by another doctor and nurse providing health services. But if the pharmacist is retired, why should other health workers come and work as pharmacists?” they asked.

They further said that dispensing medicine without a pharmacist is not only a violation but also puts people’s lives at risk.

“…….The Chief Minister of our state is a famous doctor, he knows very well regarding this law. In December 2021 it was announced that 410 Allopathic Pharmacists, 25 Ayurvedic Pharmacists, and 22 Homeopathic Pharmacists will be recruited.  Then again in August 2022, it was announced that 200 allopathic, 25 ayurvedic and 22 homeopathic pharmacists will be recruited. But now no notification has come out for a while. Many times we deputed to the health department and met the health officials, and they assured us many times. But pharmacists are currently suffering from non-existence. According to the economic review of 2021-2022, it was mentioned that the strength of pharmacists is 756 while Men in positions 237 and 519 are vacant. Many senior pharmacists have also retired after 2022. Another thing is that the number of Ayurvedic homeopathic pharmacists is also increasing due to the continuation of Ayurvedic and homeopathic pharmacy courses”, they said.

They have drawn the attention of the Minister of Health and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and said, “We are hopeful that he will take our matter very seriously and save the existence of pharmacist society”, they added.
