Police raid house of Ujjwal Hossain following viral photos with weapons

Agartala, July 03, 2023: After viral photos depicting Ujjwal Hossain brandishing weapons surfaced on social media, the police conducted a raid at his residence based on the received information. However, the accused individual was not found at his home. Ujjwal Hossain, a resident of Ratnanagar under the jurisdiction of Bishalgarh police station, had served as the election agent for a TIPRA Motha candidate during the recently concluded 2023 assembly elections. Various complaints have been lodged against him.

As the images of the man carrying a pistol gained attention on social media, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Police administration took notice of the incident. Under the supervision of SDPO Panna Lal Sen, the police, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate, conducted a raid at Ujjwal Hossain’s residence. Although no weapons were found during the search, the police seized a mobile phone and a passport. However, the accused individual was not present at the scene.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer expressed the seriousness with which they are treating the incident. Illegal possession of weapons will result in severe punishment, and the matter is being thoroughly investigated. It is worth noting that various allegations were made against Ujjwal Hossain during the recent assembly elections, which concluded a few months ago. The outcome of the police investigation remains to be seen.
