Agartala, July 25, 2023: The condition of Gandacherra Sub-divisional Hospital remains dismal for an extended period, raising serious concerns among residents. During a recent visit to the hospital on Tuesday, Nandita Ryang, a TIPRA Motha legislator from the 44-Raimavalley constituency, expressed her discontent with the healthcare facilities provided by the government. She pointed out that Gandacherra is the most neglected area on the state’s map.
The Gandacherra sub-division houses approximately 70,000 to 80,000 people from various communities. However, they solely depend on this one hospital for medical care. Shockingly, the hospital has not seen any significant infrastructure improvement over the last 25 years. The dilapidated condition of the concrete building is evident, with cement plaster falling off the walls from the roof.
Patients seeking medical services at the hospital do not find the peace and solace they deserve. The constant fear of impending danger looms large for all. The medical staff and healthcare workers, who are responsible for treating the patients, have to bear the burden of this deteriorating structure, always living under the fear of its collapse.
Nandita Reang further criticized the current government, which has seen three health ministers in the past five years. Despite the changes in leadership, the condition of the hospital has not improved. The situation has raised concerns among the locals, who are uncertain when the government will finally address and resolve the hospital’s issues.
The dismal state of Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Hospital raises a crucial question about the government’s commitment to providing adequate healthcare facilities to its citizens. It is hoped that the authorities, both at the state and central levels, will take prompt action to address the situation and prioritize the well-being of the people in the region.
