Agartala, July 30, 2023: Tripura Khet Majdoor Union Secretary on Sunday said that the country’s women farm workers are not doing well at all as they are not prospering at all. The labourers had to earn their livelihood in a miserable way.
While addressing at the state-level Mahila Khet Majdoor convetion at the premises of Khet Majdoor Bhavan here on Sunday, Dey highlighted the current situation of women farm workers in the country.
He said that the women farm laborers who work for the landlords do not get proper wages. There is discrimination between men and women in paying wages. It is a matter of preference. But women farm laborers are not less than men in terms of work. But the wages are low. There are still many slave laborers in the country. Women farm laborers have to sell their labor at landlords’ houses for free, he added.
