Agartala, July 31, 2023: The Belonia police station staff successfully intercepted a car carrying 235 bottles of Phensedyl syrup. The incident took place during a routine vehicle check on Sunday night in the Belonia area.
OC (Officer-in-Charge) Sukanta Tripura, along with other police officials signaled an Alto car with registration number TR08D-0487 to stop. However, the driver of the car attempted to flee, heading towards Hrishyamukh. The police immediately pursued the car. After a chase in Debipur area, the driver abandoned the car and fled the scene.
The police then seized the vehicle and later brought it to Belonia police station. Upon conducting a thorough search, the police discovered 235 bottles of Phensedyl syrup hidden inside the car. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be over Rs 1.50 lakh.
The OC of Belonia police station informed that a case has been registered under the appropriate section, and the police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The successful interception and seizure of the illegal drugs mark a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
