Agartala, August 05: The surging cases of robbery across the state has become a matter of concern among the residents and this time, such a case has been reported in the capital city on Saturday.
Reportedly, it is learned that, under the cover of night, a group of miscreants looted multiple shops adjacent to the main road at Ashram Chowmuhani here.
One of the shopkeepers named Pranoy Karmakar, who is a blacksmith by profession, to his horror found that the door of his shop was broken when he went to open the shop this morning. He said that the thieves have made off with valuables worth Rs 50,000 to 60,000. Karmakar further revealed that his along with a few other shops were looted on many previous occasions.
Moreover, the shopkeepers expressed their disappointment and frustration with the role of police regarding these matters. They alleged that even after multiple complaints, the police has not yet come up with any solution to put a stop to these ongoing robberies.
It is however worthy to note that, there are no on-duty police staffs in the area by evening, as revealed by the shopkeepers.
Furthermore, the shopkeepers, sensing a threat to their livelihood by these miscreants, appealed to the government to take strict action against such illicit activities.
