Huge cache of arms recovered close to LoC in Kupwara

Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including five AK rifles, close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the Army said on Friday.

The recoveries were made by a joint team of the Army, BSF, and Police during a three-day search operation that is still underway in the Machil sector.

“Joint Operation launched by #IndianArmy, @BSF_Kashmir, and @JmuKmrPolice in #Machhal Sector #Kupwara from August 15–23 based on Intelligence inputs by various agencies of the likely presence of a cache of warlike stores, the Army announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 05 AK Rifles, 07 Pistols, 04 Hand Grenades, and other incriminating material, has been recovered,” it added.

The Army said the search operation is still in progress.
