Agartala, August 20: Recent statistics reveal a significant decline in the number of Madhyamik examinees in the state, with a notable decrease from 49 thousand in 2018 to 38 thousand in the latest academic year, predominantly impacting candidates from ethnic backgrounds.

The revelation was made during a discussion meeting held at Chhatra-Yuba Bhavan to commemorate the 46th foundation day of TSU where Radhacharan Debbarma, the general secretary of Upajati Ganamukti Parishad addressed the gathering and shared this concerning data.

The meeting saw participants rallying around slogans advocating for the preservation of education, the constitution, and the nation.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the demand to revoke the new National Education Policy 2020, as it is believed to be contrary to the interests of students and potentially detrimental to their educational prospects. Speakers at the meeting expressed concerns that the implementation of this policy could have adverse consequences for students.

Debbarma took the opportunity during the discussion meeting to reflect on the significance of the day, marking the 46th foundation day of the organization despite encountering numerous challenges over the years.

Prominent leaders in attendance at the event included SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb, TSU state secretary Sujit Tripura, and other leaders making the gathering a platform to address pressing educational issues and advocate for the well-being of students in the region.
