UK to send Ukraine additional military assistance in coming months

Date:

The United Kingdom will supply Ukraine with additional military equipment and munitions in the coming months as part of 2.3 billion pounds ($2.8 billion) allocated for military support for Kiev in 2023, the UK Defense Ministry said on Monday.

“The UK remains fully committed to supporting Ukraine, with a further £2.3bn already earmarked for further military support through 2023, with additional munitions and equipment to be delivered in the coming months,” the ministry said in a statement.

Last week, UK Defense Minister Grant Shapps said that London would deliver “tens of thousands” more artillery shells to Kiev. He added that the UK planned to have trained 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of this year.

Western allies began pouring weapons and ammunition into Ukraine shortly after Russia launched its military operation in the country in February 2022. The Kremlin has repeatedly warned against further escalation leading to NATO’s direct involvement in the conflict.
