Agartala, 5th October 2023: The GBP Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College set to introduce endoscopic brain surgery within their neurosurgery department. Dr. Sidda Reddy, a senior neurosurgeon at GBP Hospital, announced that they have already received official approval from higher authorities to acquire the necessary equipment for this purpose, as stated during the hospital’s weekly press briefing.
Dr. Reddy emphasized the hospital’s commitment to expanding its services in the neurosurgery department. Currently, with two neurosurgeons on staff, they are exploring the possibility of opening a second operation theatre. With additional staff, the department aims to increase its surgical capacity. Furthermore, they have received clearance from higher authorities to introduce brain endoscopy, with plans to commence these procedures within the next two to three months.
Dr. Reddy also provided statistics on the department’s surgical achievements since its establishment in 2019. Over the course of the last three years and eight months, they have successfully performed a total of 1,350 surgeries, encompassing procedures such as brain tumor removal, spine surgery, and trauma care surgeries.
Regarding the hospital’s weekly outpatient department (OPD) services, Dr. Reddy noted that a significant number of emergency cases require immediate attention, necessitating doctors to allocate substantial time to treat these patients.
