Agartala, October 15: Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee (TSCCC) general secretary Sudhan Das on Sunday wrote a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan regarding suspected murder of Dalit girl Dipashree Das of of Bardowali (now residing at Joynagar) at the house of Biplab Sen of Kalacherra, Sabroom under South Tripura.

In the two-page letter, Das mentioned “Because, a 15-year old school girl, namely Dipashree Das, daughter of Dipankar Das of Joynagar, Agartala, a student of Class IX, had entered into an unwanted relationship one Arun Halder of Bardowali, an RSS leader, forced the parents of the girl to hand over their daughter to him for so called ‘Suddhikaran’ (sanctification) on October 06 last. After taking hold of the girl in his possession, they sent the girl at the house of Biplab Sen of Kalachara who is known as one of the front ranking BJP leader in the area.”

“Myself, Sudip Sarkar, MLA and some other leaders of SC Coordination Committee met the parents of the victim today in front of morgue of GB Pant Hospital, Agartala. Both the parents informed us that, Arun Halder extorted money from them twice once, by cash and thereafter by online transfer as cost of so called ‘Suddhikaran’ of their daughter. While Dipashree was under treatment in GB Pant Hospital, Biplab Sen offered them a big bundle of cash money with a request not to proceed with litigation and settle the matter by discussion. But they refused this offer. They further informed us that, at the house of Biplab Sen at Kalachhara, Dipashree Das was subjected to inhuman torture including sexual harassment in the name of so called ‘Suddhikaran’ (sanctification). Various signs of tortures, marks of beating by lathis, marks of strangulation by neck etc. were found in her boy, which unequivocally suggests that she was murdered.”

“As the victim belongs to a scheduled caste community, and an underage, we on behalf of the Schedule Caste Coordination Committee, demand that, while prosecuting with this case, apart from penal provisions of IPC, the SC, ST (prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) 2012 Act must be imposed against the accused in this case”, the statement reads.

TSCCC general secretary Das stated “As the so called ‘Suddhikaran’ of human being itself is a crime, considering the sensitiveness of the case, requesting you to constitute a Special Investigating Team (SIT) with competent officers to deal with this case so that the perpetrators are booked and punished.”
