Agartala, October 15: Teaching and non-teaching staff members who have dedicated their services to various schools and district education departments over an extended period are expressing concerns regarding their working conditions. They are engaged in multifaceted duties, including responsibilities with the Election Commission, such as Booth Level Officer (BLO) and District Officer (DO), which frequently require them to step away from their primary office duties. However, these additional tasks are leading to various deprivations for the employees.

To address these issues, the educational staff members are seeking the attention of the Chief Minister and the state government. Their demands encompass several key areas, including the introduction of Dearness Allowance (DA), City Allowance (CA), Earned Leave (EL), and pension benefits for teachers. Non-teaching staff members are advocating for regular pay scales, increment benefits, DA, and Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) advantages in accordance with the Levy 2018 norms.

These demands, along with the need for the regularization of all teachers and teaching staff, were highlighted during a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club. Senthu Das, President of the Tripura State Samagra Shiksha Mancha, played a central role in presenting the collective concerns at the press conference. The event was attended by Treasurer Soman Chandra Nath and other concerned individuals.

The educational staff’s aspirations aim to address their long-standing issues and provide equitable benefits and working conditions for those who play pivotal roles in the education system.
