Agartala, October 27:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is mourning the loss of Sumit Dey, the General Secretary of its North District, who passed away after a valiant battle with health complications. Tragically, despite the dedicated efforts of medical professionals, Sumit Dey breathed his last at GB Hospital on Thursday night.

The late Sumit Dey’s body is slated to be brought to his residence on DNV Road in Dharmanagar early on Friday morning, where a multitude of individuals and leaders from various political parties will assemble to pay their final respects.

Following the homecoming, the late leader’s body was conveyed to the athletic club, and subsequently to the BJP North District Office. It was there that leaders, both from within and outside the BJP, gathered to honour the memory of Sumit Dey.

Prominent figures present at the condolence ceremony included Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, Minister Tinku Roy, MLA Yadav Lal Nath, District President Bhabatosh Das, and Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairman Pradyot Dey Sarkar, among others.

Sumit Dey, whose untimely demise occurred at the age of 42, leaves behind his mother, wife, and only son, as well as a multitude of well-wishers who are deeply saddened by his passing.

Offering his condolences, the Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, acknowledging the profound loss that the BJP North District has suffered.

It is worth noting that on October 24, Sumit Dey had experienced a severe brain stroke. He was subsequently transferred from Dharmanagar to GB Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Tragically, despite the medical intervention, his life could not be saved. MLA Yadav Lal Nath lamented the loss of a capable leader who was taken from them too soon.
