Agartala, November 10: An elderly woman named Pushpa Roy Chowdhury, who lives in Sekerkot tea garden area under Amtali police station, has been facing harassment by a youth named Siddharth Roy Chowdhury, who allegedly throws stones and bricks at her house every night. The youth, who claims to be a journalist, also extorts money from the locals by brokering land deals.

On Thursday night, the youth attacked the woman’s house again and scared her with his stone-pelting. The woman screamed for help and her son Bijoy Roy Chowdhury and other neighbours came to her rescue. The youth fled the scene when he saw the crowd.

The woman and her son reported the incident to Amtali police station, who visited the spot and spoke to the witnesses. The son accused the youth of being a troublemaker and a fraudster, who has no good reputation in the area. He said that the police are aware of his activities but have not taken any strict action against him. He demanded that the youth be arrested and punished for his crimes.

The incident has created a sense of fear and anger among the residents of Sekerkote tea garden, who want the police to protect them from the youth’s menace. They also appealed to the media to expose his false claims of being a journalist.
