Agartala, 28th November 2023:  Former Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman alleged today that the ruling BJP engages in divisive politics.

“They excel at turning people against each other. One such incident occurred in the state, where they are attempting to strip the status of those among the Christian tribals who are converting,” said Sudip.

During a press conference at his residence on Tuesday, he emphasized the lack of focus on the development of tribal communities residing in villages and hills.

“The tribal people face various challenges, including unemployment, educational issues, food shortages, and communication system problems. Their concerns have not received adequate attention thus far,” he stated. Sudip claimed that the Janjati Suraksha Manch supports the BJP’s divisive politics, and as a result, the ruling group and the government have remained silent on the matter.

“The Congress party wants to understand the ruling party’s and the government’s response to these slogans. They plan to organize a significant gathering in Agartala city on December 25, coinciding with the Christmas festival of Christians, to demand the removal of ST status from Christians. However, it is unclear whether the government has granted permission for these gatherings and processions,” he added.
