Agartala, January 04: The Tripura Employees Coordination Committee (TECC) will hold its 14th Tri-Annual Conference on January 6 and 7, 2024, at Agartala Town Hall. The conference will address the issues of workers’ rights, democracy, and communal harmony, and call for a nationwide strike in February.

The TECC general secretary Swapan Bal announced this at a press conference on Thursday at the Melarmath office of the organization. He said that the conference will be attended by A. Shri Kumar, the general secretary of the All India State Government Employees Mahasangh, and Biswajit Gupta Chowdhury, the joint general secretary of the All India Government Employees Federation.

Bal said that the conference will be followed by a public rally in front of Agartala Town Hall at 11 am on January 6. The rally will demand the restoration of the rights of the workers, farmers, teachers, employees, tribal people, and the unemployed, which have been taken away by the central and state governments.

He also said that the TECC will join a nationwide strike in early February, along with other central government employees, railways, banks, insurance and defense employees, to protest against the anti-worker policies of the government.

Ball accused the BJP-IPFT-led government in Tripura of cheating the teachers and staff with false promises. He said that the government did not implement the Central Seventh Pay Commission properly, and stopped paying the annual installments of DA. He also said that the government abolished vacancies in various offices, violated the right to organize of the fire brigade department employees, and attacked the TECC offices and leaders across the state.

Mahua Roy and other leaders of the TECC were present at the press conference.
